James Melvin Wakefield

James Melvin Wakefield passed away on April 28, 2012 in Spaulding, Oklahoma.  James was born on October 17, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John and Celia Wakefield.
James served his country during the Vietnam conflict in the United States Army.  A machinist by trade James loved aircraft and motorcycles.  He also enjoyed camping, hunting, and working with cattle.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Stanley.
Survivors include his wife, Kay of the home; children Terry Don Wakefield of Holdenville, Victoria Paxton and husband Tim of Brisbane, Australia, Kim Smare of Oklahoma, Johnny Wakefield, Stephen Wakefield, and McKayla Wakefield all of Holdenville; grandchildren Amanda, James, Brandon, Chris, Brandi, Lisa, Caitlyn, Zack, Taven, Da-Lonna, Johnathon, Angela, Jessie; great-grandchild Kiara; special friend Zack; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and family.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 am on May 3rd, at the Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville.  Rev. Jay Badry will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Tim Paxton, Johnny Wakefield, Stephen Wakefield, McKayla Wakefield, Zack Phillips, James Wakefield.  Interment is scheduled for 2:00 PM on May 3rd, at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Oklahoma City.  Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Wanda Lee (Hall) Osborn

Wanda Lee (Hall) Osborn was born September 17, 1923 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Vernon Johnson and Lodell Richardson Johnson and passed from this life April 21, 2012 in Oklahoma City at the age of 88.
Wanda Lee was raised in Wetumka by her mother Lodell and stepfather Webb Fulks. She attended the Wetumka School. On May 26 1939 she was married to Henry Lloyd Hall. Mr. Hall was attending Oklahoma State University and they moved to Stillwater where she was a graduate of Stillwater High School. Following their graduations they returned to Wetumka where they lived the remainder of their lives together.
They began their life in Wetumka farming and raising livestock. They also operated several businesses in Wetumka including a service station and sandwich shop, located where the Senior Citizens building now stands. They also operated City Sinclair Service Station. While she was always involved in the family business she is mostly remembered as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Mr. Hall preceded her in death on April 10, 1992. Wanda continued living in Wetumka where she married Gaston Osborn on February 14, 2001. He too preceded her in death on November 12, 2011.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and shopping (Not garage sales. She preferred to buy the new stuff!). Being an only child she enjoyed a very special relationship with her mother. Except for the short time she was at school with her husband she was never separated from her and they never missed a holiday together. All of her family and friends knew that 4:00 p.m. each was their “coffee time”. Mr. Fulks passed away in 1964 and her mother preceded her in death January 28, 2005 at the age of 100.
She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church where she earned the title “Kitchen Angel” for being in charge of funeral dinners for more than twenty-five years. She kept a detailed record book of each meal prepared that the family still treasures today.
Survivors include: three children: Ann Chowins and husband Mike of Henryetta, Marilyn Rupe and husband Joe of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Randy Hall and wife Cathy of Tishomingo; two stepsons Jim Osborn and wife Margo of Buckeye, Arizona and Dennis Osborn and wife Victoria of Phoenix, Arizona; a step daughter-in-law Kathy Osborn of Wellton, Arizona; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, along with several step grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dan Eischen and Rev. Claude Butler officiating. Pallbearers were Todd Chowins, Ted Chowins, Jeff Rupe, Hunter Chowins, Brad Gamble, and Marty Pope. Interment was in the Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home.

Johnny Epley

Johnny Epley passed away in Holdenville on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the age of 65 years.
Johnny was the son of Perry W. Epley, Sr. and Maxine (Wallace) Epley, born on November 21, 1946, in Grayling, Michigan.  He was brought up in Oklahoma, in the Ada area.
He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served seven years, including five tours in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged in 1970, and went to work in construction as a welder.  He married Kathryn Marie ‘Kate’ Hudson in Michigan on December 29, 1972.  They lived for a while in Michigan, Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma, then settled in Mississippi for 16 years.
After the ordeal of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, they returned to Oklahoma and have made their home in Sasakwa for the past seven years.  Johnny loved fishing and camping, gardening and woodworking.  He enjoyed working with his hands and stayed busy working on something all the time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Maxine Epley.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathryn, of the home; three sons, Michael Epley of Galveston, Texas, Johnathan Epley of Sasakwa, and Charles Epley of Biloxi, Mississippi; four daughters, Terri Fulton of Okmulgee, Janessa Michalk of Atoka, Jessica Garland of Roff, and Kelly Ferrill of Saucier, Mississippi; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Sarah Epley of Sasakwa; and one sister and brother-in-law, L. Sue and Fred Cox of Seminole; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Graveside services, with military honors, were Wednesday, May 2nd, 11:00 a.m., Pontotoc Cemetery, Pontotoc, Oklahoma, with Rev. Jason McIntyre officiating.  Pallbearers were Charles Epley, Paul Fulton, Millard Epley, Perry Epley III, Marcus Michalk and Tim Eubanks.  Honorary pallbearers were Perry Epley II, Mike Epley, Johnathan Epley, Chris McCalip, Almon Epley, Matthew Summers, Private Ryan Hudson, Lee Palumbo, Josh Whittington, Fred Cox, Robert Dale Hudson Sr., and Robert Dale Hudson Jr.
